The conference featured a project for the development of a regional natural gas hub in Georgia and a concept for the development of the energy infrastructure required for its implementation. The project includes the creation of an underground gas storage facility (UGS) and a gas liquefaction terminal. It also considers the potential for the discovery of oil and gas reservoirs within the region.
The research presented at the conference combines the technical and geological aspects of the proposed infrastructure with an assessment of its economic feasibility and strategic significance. The economic analysis substantiates the rationale for developing Georgia as a regional gas hub within the broader context of diversifying natural gas supply routes to Europe, strengthening the resilience of regional energy infrastructure, and enhancing European energy security.
